Record Numbers for New Felony Diversion Program Provides Alternative to Prosecution


The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office new Felony Diversion Program has provided an alternative to 1,300 individuals facing criminal prosecution in the county while ensuring the safety of families in our communities. Under this new program, which is a combination of the Drug Diversion and Felony Pretrial Intervention programs, those facing criminal charges can receive treatment tailored to them that addresses their underlying criminal behaviors.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicular heatstroke is the number one cause of death in non-collision fatalities for children 14 and younger. Understanding Shannon’s Law this Fourth of July

The Bridge Forum


Last week, I was fortunate to join leaders and community members from all sectors of the criminal justice system at the HeroZona Foundation’s Bridge Forum series, Time for Change. Hearing from our community this past month, it’s evident that change is needed to fix the discrepancies within our criminal justice system and having an open dialogue is an essential part of that change. The next steps in this process are still to be determined but many in our community feel justice is out of reach and we must respond to address this issue through thoughtful and meaningful conversations that will lead to change.
