Prosecutors in the MCAO's Drug Enforcement Bureau handle cases that not only deal with drugs and drug trafficking but are often linked to violent crimes such as homicides, kidnapping, and robbery. We are fortunate to have a team of skilled prosecutors in this bureau who handle the steady influx of drug-related crimes within Maricopa County. The Arizona Narcotic Officers Association (ANOA) honors law enforcement agencies that play a role in keeping drugs out of our communities by distinguishing the individuals who have demonstrated their commitment to this endeavor. We are delighted to announce that the Assistant Bureau Chief of our Drug Enforcement Bureau, Ramsey Bronyah, has been given the 2022 ANOA Prosecutor of the Year Award for his dedication and accomplishments over the last year.
When Bureau Chief Jeff Beaver nominated Ramsey for the Prosecutor of the Year Award, he described him as "...a great asset to drug trafficking investigations and prosecutions in Maricopa County." Over the past year, Ramsey has had significant accomplishments prosecuting large-scale drug trafficking and homicide cases. His most recent achievement involved the successful prosecution and conviction of one defendant for first-degree murder and a second defendant for the sale/transport of dangerous drugs related to a Phoenix Police investigation of a double homicide in 2019. The incident occurred during a methamphetamine trafficking dispute after one of the defendants murdered a man, then attempted to murder a woman involved in the drug deal, and in doing so, killed a woman with a disability who was in the middle of this horrific situation. We were lucky to have Ramsey there to fight for justice and ensure public safety.
Ramsey is not only exceptional at prosecuting drug trafficking cases, but his expertise also makes him a perfect resource for his colleagues and law enforcement partners. In addition to providing trainings for law enforcement, including teaching a Fourth Amendment Class for the 2021 ANOA Summer Conference, Ramsey also helps MCAO with recruitment. Ramsey’s hard work and dedication show that he is well deserving of the ANOA Prosecutor of the Year Award. Congratulations Ramsey!
