The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is proud to announce the return of our Citizens Academy. This free, one-day program provides Maricopa County residents with a behind-the-scenes look at the County Attorney’s Office and the criminal justice system. The County Attorney’s Office is committed to strengthening the office’s relationship with the community, and the Citizens Academy is a great way for us to do so.
The goal of the Citizens Academy is to create a greater understanding of the County Attorney’s role in the criminal justice system and share information about the various services this office provides. Usually, when people think about the County Attorney’s Office, they think the office solely consists of prosecutors and that we only prosecute crimes. While prosecution is a big part of what we do, it’s only one of the many responsibilities our office and employees oversee. During this program participants will learn from subject matter experts and staff members about the criminal justice process, diversion strategies, victim and adoption services, cold case investigations, and more.
This program is open to all Maricopa County residents over the age of 18. We also invite members of any business, civic or community organizations, and educators to participate. Programs will be scheduled on the third Tuesday of the month and limited to 20 participants.
