The work of the County Attorney's Office has an impact beyond the courtroom and affects communities throughout Maricopa County. That's why the office has a team dedicated to helping prevent crime and foster relationships with these communities. In addition, the Community Affairs Team engages with county residents through a variety of education-based outreach that helps families develop better safety habits.
We're excited to announce that we have a new addition to this team! An Arizona native, Tiffany Lam Mendoza, is passionate about serving her community. "It is a wonderful feeling to be able to interact with those around us and share knowledge on topics that are important in keeping them and their loved ones safe."
Born and raised in Tucson, Tiffany received her bachelor's from the University of Arizona in Public Management and Policy with an emphasis in Criminal Justice and a minor in Pre-Law. Her studies and interest in criminal justice led her to the County Attorney's Office.
Having worked in the public sector over the last few years, Tiffany understands the importance of keeping the community involved and helping foster relationships between public agencies and the communities they serve. "It is imperative to establish trust with the people that we serve through communication and transparency."
Tiffany believes that education is one of the best tools to foster these relationships and help prevent crime. "If we can help keep people from entering the criminal justice system either as a victim or a perpetrator, we are creating a positive impact in society. By raising awareness on the issues that we directly see affecting Maricopa County, we can protect citizens from becoming victims of crime."
While at the County Attorney's Office, Tiffany hopes to "be proactive in making a difference while also highlighting the hard work that the employees here at MCAO are accomplishing."
For those considering a career in public service, Tiffany suggests you explore that interest. "You can start by reaching out to an agency or organization that you could see yourself getting involved with and ask if they have volunteer opportunities. Then, you can see how they function and how your service directly impacts your community. It is extremely fulfilling to know that you play a role in assisting those around you."
When Tiffany's not educating the public, she likes to spend time with her 9-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback pup. A fun fact about Tiffany is that she is Mexican and Vietnamese and has lots of fantastic food recommendations!
You can meet Tiffany and our community affairs team by scheduling a presentation for your business, community group, or organization. And if you're lucky, you might get some good food recommendations as well!
