Keeping the Wheels of Justice Rolling

Brittany Hogard

The COVID-19 emergency means that many prosecutors and staff at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office are teleworking. Court appearances have been postponed or canceled and hearings are happening telephonically. Everyone is making temporary adjustments – as the MCAO continues to prioritize the rights of victims and help keep the criminal justice train running. These extraordinary circumstances have dictated many changes to our day-to-day duties. Many of the employees at MCAO have adjusted to the changes seamlessly and have found some changes both surprising and rewarding. In the days ahead, we’d like to introduce you to some of our stellar attorneys who are keeping the trains moving full-steam ahead.

Into the New Normal

Brittany Hogard, a Deputy County Attorney in our Community Based Prosecution Division, is busy doing almost everything that she was accomplishing at the office, though more often than not, now done to the soundtrack of the movie “Frozen 2” in the background. Although her commute is now much shorter, Brittany still fills her work day staffing cases, communicating with other attorneys, responding to motions, working on trial prep, opening cases and communicating regularly with her co-workers and her supervisor. Like others, she is also learning to work alongside her newest co-worker, her toddler, but except for some modifications to her work hours, getting up earlier and working later, they are all adjusting nicely to the changes.
