PHOENIX— Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery is in Washington D.C. for the 50-State Summit on Public Safety. The first of its kind summit is an invite-only gathering of lawmakers, corrections administrators, law enforcement officials, and behavioral health professionals from every state to analyze and discuss local trends in public safety.
“This is a unique event that will allow us to share the successes we are seeing in our own communities and learn about other programs across the country that may be beneficial to areas of the criminal justice system in Arizona, said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery.
This two day event, November 13–14, is being held by the Council of State Governments Justice Center in partnership with the Association of State Correctional Administrators. The summit will examine crime, corrections, and behavioral health trends state by state to help develop effective solutions. Topics that will be covered include: reducing crime and strengthening communities; breaking the cycle of reoffending; and strategies to enable reinvestments in public safety.
