PHOENIX, AZ (February 21, 2012) - Calling all student filmmakers! The Maricopa County Attorney invites you to enter the “My Message” video contest for a chance to win a new Apple MacBook® Pro and $500 in Apple merchandise. Open to County residents 13 to 17 years old, “My Message” asks contestants to harness their creative filmmaking skills to make a compelling 25-second, video Public Service Announcement (PSA) that encourages teens to not use drugs or alcohol. Five finalists, including one Grand Prize winner, will have their PSAs broadcast on local television.
“The My Message contest is a great way for talented teens to show off their creative skills and influence their peers to avoid drugs and alcohol,” said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery. “Together we can make a positive difference in the lives of young people and prevent the kinds of destructive decisions that can have lifelong consequences,” he added.
Salt River Project (SRP) and Scottsdale Healthcare are partnering with the County Attorney’s Office on the contest and will provide prizes for the winning entries. Five finalists will receive a gift certificate good for $500 worth of merchandise from the Apple Store. The Grand Prize is a new Apple MacBook® Pro loaded with the latest and greatest digital filmmaking tools.
The deadline for entries is April 15th, 2012. No purchase or payment of any kind is required. Finalists will be announced on May 2nd and prizes awarded at a ceremony on May 16th. Complete contest rules, guidelines and instructions on how to enter can be found at www.SafeTeensAZ.org.
