MCAO Prosecutors Receive FBI Director’s Award for Prosecuting Terrorism Case

Maricopa County Prosecutors Addison Owen and Edward Leiter were recently honored with an FBI Director’s Certificate of Commendation Award for their work, along with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, in combatting international terrorism. Prosecutors Owen and Leiter prosecuted Mahim Kahn, a convicted state terrorist, of two counts of assault on a corrections employee and three counts of possessing/making contraband. Kahn was sentenced in late 2019 and will serve four years in prison in addition to the eight years he received from the original terrorism case. “I want to thank all the partners for their efforts on this case and congratulate Ed Leiter and Addison Owen on a job well done,” said Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel. “We appreciate this recognition for the work our prosecutors do every day—behind the scenes—to hold offenders accountable and keep our community safe.”
