Community Programs

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is actively involved in a number of outreach efforts to protect and strengthen local communities, including:

Shred-A-Thons

The best way to protect yourself from becoming a victim of Identity Theft is to regularly destroy documents that contain your personal or sensitive financial information. With our shred partners we offer regular Shred-A-Thons throughout Maricopa County to provide a safe and easy way for members of the public to destroy unneeded documents for free. Dates and locations can be found on our events calendar.

Prescription Drug Turn-in

Help fight prescription drug abuse by dropping off expired or unneeded medications at one of our Prescription Drug Turn-in events, usually scheduled in conjunction with our Shred-A-Thons. Check our events calendar for details.

Citizen Safety Forums

A twice-yearly, half-day program of crime prevention classes free to the public and community groups, presented by experts within the County Attorney’s Office. Upcoming Forums.

Citizens Academy

Learn firsthand how prosecutors hold criminals accountable by spending a day “behind the scenes” at the County Attorney’s Office. Information and application.

The Citizens Academy has been recognized with a 2015 NACo Achievement Award!

Safe Kids Summer

When the weather heats up, we head out to public pools throughout the Valley and offer parents free Child ID and DNA kits plus information on child safety. We also offer safety games and prizes for kids.
