Community-Based Prosecution Division

Within the 9,200 square mile jurisdiction of Maricopa County, crime can vary greatly from one neighborhood or region to another. The Community-Based Prosecution Division is organized into four separate bureaus to address these regional differences. Within each bureau, prosecutors work in partnership with local law enforcement agencies and community members to identify crime trends and prosecute offenses that occur in different geographic areas of the County.

Central Valley Bureau prosecutes cases submitted by police departments in the cities of Phoenix (Central City, Mountain View and Desert Horizon precincts), Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, and District 4 of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Northwest Valley Bureau prosecutes cases submitted by police departments in the cities of Phoenix (Cactus Park and Black Mountain precincts), Glendale, El Mirage, Peoria, Surprise, Wickenburg, and District 3 of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (including Lake Pleasant).

East Valley Bureau prosecutes cases submitted by police departments in the cities of Tempe (including ASU PD), Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Fountain Hills, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and Districts 1, 5, 6 and 7 of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Southwest Valley Bureau prosecutes cases submitted by police departments in the cities of Phoenix (South Mountain, Estrella Mountain and Maryvale precincts), Goodyear, Buckeye, Tolleson, Avondale, the Gila River Indian Community and District 2 of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
